Cycle of Becoming
Life is like a bicycle; to keep your balance, you must keep moving. — Albert Einstein
Cycle of Becoming is my reflection on growth, identity, and the quiet strength required to navigate life. Through a recurring figure and her bicycle, I explore the many versions of ourselves that emerge as we move through time.
The changing dresses symbolize the different roles we inhabit and the stories we wear. They speak of memory, culture, femininity, and the constant evolution of self. Her hairstyles Afro, braids, and dreadlocks become markers of identity and heritage, celebrating the beauty of transformation without losing one's roots.
The gloves represent protection and resilience. They are a reminder that tenderness and strength can exist together; that we often carry ourselves through life while shielding our dreams, wounds, and hopes from the world.
The bicycle is the heart of the series. More than an object, it becomes a metaphor for life's journey. It speaks of movement, balance, freedom, and perseverance. Her changing postures resting, reflecting, leaning forward, or firmly grounded mirror the emotional states we all experience: moments of confidence, uncertainty, exhaustion, and renewal.
As an artist, these works are deeply personal. They are reminders that becoming is never a destination, but a continuous cycle. We are all learning, adapting, falling, and finding our balance again.
For collectors, Cycle of Becoming offers a universal narrative. It is an invitation to see oneself within the work to recognize that every stage of life, every change, and every struggle is part of the beautiful and ongoing process of becoming.
